About Alabama

Name some of the most influential high-energy Southern Rock and country bands and you know a band like Alabama must come to mind.

It's been 50 years since Alabama cousins left Fort Payne, to play at Myrtle beach, South Carolina at a bar called Bowery. After 6 long years of tip jars and word of mouth, Randy Owen, Teddy Gentry and Jeff Cook got the major label deal they'd been dreaming of. Ever since 1969 Alabama has delivered numerous energy packed performances which has earned them many Entertainer of the Year Awards and in 2005, they got the membership of Country Music Hall of Fame and Hollywood Walk of Fame. Alabama is celebrating its 50th Anniversary with its Epic tour. Grab those tickets on Ticketnetwork.com.

Alabama has merged the genres of hard rock, country, gospel, pop and rock and roll together and are the first group to launch country rock music into mainstream. Alabama's biggest success came in the 1980s, where the band had over 27 number one hits, a record that will probably never be equaled in any genre, seven multi-platinum albums and received numerous awards. They sold over 4 million copy of their debut album within a year of their debut. Since then, the group has recorded 260 songs out of which 65 are singles, 23 full length studio albums, 2 live albums and 8 compilation albums. They have sold around 73 million records worldwide. In 2002, Alabama went on a major worldwide tour to mark the end of the band's career.

The diversity and star power of the artists speaks volumes about the breadth and depth of ALABAMA's legacy. Contributing their own versions of Alabama classics are Jason Aldean, Luke Bryan, Kenny Chesney, Eli Young Band, Florida Georgia Line, Jamey Johnson, Toby Keith, Rascal Flatts, and Trisha Yearwood.

Some of the memorable songs in the country history which has captivated their fans are "My Home's In Alabama," the band's first major hit and the song that introduced them to the world; "Tennessee River," their very first #1; "Old Flame" and "Love in the First Degree," from their second RCA album; "Lady Down On Love," a harmony-laden example of Randy's songwriting prowess; "The Closer You Get," released halfway through their streak of 21 chart-toppers; "She And I," from the mid-'80s; and "Forever's As Far As I'll Go" and "I'm In A Hurry (And Don't Know Why)," which helped kick off the '90s, in which the boys earned 29 more chart hits, including 22 #1 or Top 5 singles.
