Mamma Mia! Tickets

I’ll bet you won’t realize how many ABBA song lyrics you remember until you go see Mamma Mia! when it comes to a city near you. The show’s name comes from ABBA’s #1 hit “Mamma Mia,” which topped the charts in 1975.  

The show debuted in 1999 in London’s West End, and it was an immediate hit. Mamma Mia! Tickets quickly became one of the most sought-after items in the U.K., and when the show moved to Broadway in 2001, it quickly became one of the top-grossing shows of the year and, eventually, the longest running “jukebox musical” in Broadway history, and was nominated for five Tony Awards and a Grammy! Touring companies sprang up immediately, eventually visiting more than 50 countries on 6 continents. 

The story centers around mother and daughter Donna and Sophie, who run their family taverna on a beautiful Greek island. Sophie is preparing for her upcoming wedding when she discovers her mother’s old diary and learns that her father might be any one of three men with whom Donna had liaisons on the island, twenty-one years before. Pretending to be her mother, Sophie invites all three men to the wedding, hoping to solve the mystery of her parentage. 

Donna was once a member of a famous girl group, “Donna and the Dynamos,” comprised of Donna and her two best friends. As the wedding draws near, the friends, Tanya and Rosie, arrive on the island and the band is reunited. When the three potential fathers arrive soon after, the stage is set for a series of misunderstandings, mayhem and tender moments, along with opportunities for the cast to sing a whopping two dozen of ABBA’s greatest hits! 

Songs from the show include “Dancing Queen,” “Honey, Honey,” “Waterloo,” “Take a Chance on Me,” and, of course, “Mamma Mia,” along with many more songs that will have you singing along and dancing in your seat.
