William Royce “Boz” Scaggs was born in Canton, Ohio the son of a traveling salesman who ended up moving his family to Texas. Ironically enough a 12-year-old Boz met Steve Miller which would eventually lead to the two collaborating further down the road in their music careers. He was given the nickname “Bosley” which was later translated to Boz.
Boz Scaggs began his music career studying rhythm and blues, becoming a member of the band the Marksmen. Later he ventured into a solo career venturing into the realm of jazz, blues, and rock. His 1976 album Silk Degrees became a nationwide hit for fans of all ages across the country. The hit song Lowdown off of Silk Degrees became a huge hit and peaked on the Billboard charts at number 2 on the Billboard 200. The song sold more than one million copies and is still in Scaggs’ arsenal of live music to play
Boz Scaggs has been accomplished many accolades including his Slow Dancer album becoming a certified Gold Record in 1974. He also has four platinum records, and several Top 10 single hits under his belt!
