About  Romeo Santos

Anthony Santos, better known as Romeo Santos, is an America singer, songwriter, actor, record producer, and vocalist. He served as lead singer of the American bachata band Aventura, but eventually broke off and embarked on a successful solo career. He specializes in Latino and Tropical music.

Early Life

Santos was born in the Bronx, New York City to a Dominican father and Puerto Rican mother. The two parents gave him a humble upbringing, as his father worked in construction while his mother stayed at home to care for the family. At the age of 13, he joined a church choir and discovered his vocal skills and passion for performing.

Career Beginnings

In the early 1990s, Santos founded Los Tinellers (The Teenagers) with his three cousins: Henry, Max, and Lenny. The group released an album called Trampa de Amor by the end of the decade, and subsequently changed their name to Aventura. In 2004, the song “Obsesion” achieved huge success in many countries, and topped major international music charts in France, Germany, and Italy. However, Aventura broke up in 2004 for its members to pursue “individual projects” as Romeo reported. His debut solo album Formula, Vol. 1 featured his first hit single called “You” that went to number one on the Hot Latin and Tropical Song charts.
