About  Vampire Weekend

You’ll have some great opportunities to see indie band Vampire Weekend in 2020. In addition to their Father of the Bride Tour 2020they’ll be making appearances at Express Live and Bonnaroo 2020, so you’ll be able to a catch a Vampire Weekend show at a venue near you. 

The group got their start in New York City, where Ezra Koenig, Chris Tomson, and Chris Baio met at Columbia University in 2006 and formed a band, along with former member Rostam Batmanglij. They soon signed with Columbia Records and in 2007 they toured the UK in support of The Shins.  

Their self-titled album debut came out in 2008. The “Vampire Weekend” album want to #17 on the Billboard Charts. A single from the album, “A-Punk,” also charted, and several songs from the album got positive reviews for its combination of “preppie punk” and strong world influences. Soon, a Vampire Weekend concert was a hot seller. 

2010 brought the band’s second studio album, Contra. The album scored Vampire Weekend’s first Grammy Nomination, for Best Alternative Music Album. The album’s first single, “Horchata,” with its complex rhythms and offbeat orchestration, drew praise from music critics and fans alike. Their next studio release, 2013’s Modern Vampires of the City brought Vampire Weekend their second Grammy nod in the same category, and this time, they won, in addition to also being nominated for Album of the Year. 

While most new indie bands spend a few years touring in support of big-name bands, Vampire Weekend has been headlining their own tous nearly from the time they were formed, along with appearing at nearly countless festivals, starting with Coachella in 2008 and including such huge events as Pitchfork, Lollapalooza, Austin City Limits and the UK’s Glastonbury Festival. 

In 2019, Vampire Weekend’s fourth studio album, Father of the Bride. Once again, the group received two Grammy nominations for Best Alternative Music Album, which they again won, and Album of the Year. They later launched a tour in support of the album, and the Father of the Bride Tour launched in late 2019 with dates into 2020. You can get great seats to all shows when you search for Vampire Weekend tickets at Ticket Network.
