Nitro Circus began in 2003 in Utah when the founder, Travis Pastrana, and some of his friends decided to make their own video recordings of sports stunts and tricks. The videos showcased their skills while also keeping it entertaining. They sold their videos as self-made DVDs and, soon enough, Nitro Circus blew up in viewership as they were doing things many people haven’t seen before. The company also gained a huge following of dedicated fans.
Nitro Circus includes live action sports such as FMX, BMX, skate, and scooter. Their performances showcase world-class athletes and daredevils taking risks in various activities. These performances feel like they are straight out of a cartoon sequence. Whether it be jumping through fire on a BMX bike or flying in a racecar, Nitro Circus performances have been out of this world.
The Nitro Circus company itself has exploded in success and has continued to do so by incorporating all forms of entertainment. Nitro Circus has created and produce television shows as well as internationally released a 3D movie. Their television show Nitro Circus Live, which featured their tour around the world, ran for four seasons from 2012 to 2014. To follow up, Nitro Circus also produced Nitro Circus: The Movie. It served as a 3D comedic action film that compiled their behind-the-scenes reality.
Nitro Circus soon wanted to create something that was more than what Pastrana and his friends were doing. In 2016, Nitro World Games came into fruition. The annual extreme sports event is held in their original stomping grounds of Utah. Extreme sports athletes from about 12 different countries come from around the world to meet in Utah and compete for the title of Nitro World Champion. Like the Olympics, Nitro Circus awards competitors with bronze, silver, and gold medals in various categories including FMX, BMX, skate, scooter, and rallycross.
