The 2019 season for the Dallas Mavericks will be one of the most higgly anticipated in the history of the franchise. Dallas Mavericks tickets will be selling fast ast the teams figures to be in contention for the first time in a while in the tough Western Conference. Last year, instead of waiting for the free agency period, owner Mark Cuban made a deal to acquire one of the most promising young players in the league Kristaps Porzingis. In last year's draft, Cuban selected Luka Doncic, the eventual Rookie of the Year.

The two have yet to play together due to a Porzingis injury, so fans can't wait to see the new duo work towards getting the Dallas Mavericks another NBA Championship. Porzingis is a generational talent and is often labeled a "unicorn" in the NBA due to the mixture of his size and ability. Over seven feet tall, Porzingis can put the ball on the floor, shoot the three, and play in the low post. His talent mixed with the play making ability of Luka Doncic should be a match made in heaven.

Seth Curry, Tim Hardaway Jr., Courtney Lee and Boban Marjanovic are all NBA veterans that will make a huge impact for the Mavericks as they make this push to the playoff. History of the Dallas Mavericks

Even though the Dallas Mavericks are now known as the only professional basketball team in Dallas, they do not hold the distinction of being the first professional basketball franchise in the city. Over ten years before their inaugural season, the city was home to the Dallas Chaparrals of the upstart American Basketball Association. Competing with the NBA was a tall order for the ABA and in 1973 the Chaparrals left Dallas to become the San Antonio Spurs. The ABA failed to compete with the NBA and would eventually merge with the dominant professional basketball league, leaving Dallas without a franchise for seven years. In 1980, the city got their team, when the Mavericks joined the NBA as its newest expansion franchise. After the growing pains of being an expansion team, the Mavericks were able to qualify for the NBA Playoffs in only their fourth year in the NBA and by 1985 the Mavericks became true contenders with players like Rolando Blackman, Detlef Schrempf and Mark Aguirre leading the way. In 1986, they posted a then-franchise best record of 55-27 but were eliminated in the first round of the postseason that year by the Seattle Supersonics. From 1985 to 1988, they were one of the best teams each year and in 1988 were one game from qualifying for the NBA Finals, before losing in Game 7 of the Western Conference Finals to the Los Angeles Lakers.

The early 1990's saw a steep decline for the Dallas Mavericks as they became among the league's worst. The franchise's desire to win never wavered, though, as through the draft they added players like Jamal Mashburn, Jason Kidd and Jimmy Jackson, who they hoped would bring them back to prominence. Although they improved, the team was unable to reach contender status. The turning point for the franchise was when internet entrepreneur Mark Cuban purchased the team in 2000. His excitement and desire pumped new life into the struggling franchise. Over the following years the Mavs built their team around superstar Dirk Nowitzki and by 2006 they advanced to somewhere they had never been before: the NBA Finals. Unfortunately, they ran into a Miami Heat team that featured two of the league's best in Shaquille O'Neal and Dwyane Wade. The Mavericks lost the series in six games. The Mavs got their revenge on the Heat in 2011, winning the NBA Championship in Miami. Dirk Nowitzki and Jason Kidd took down one of the best teams of all time when the beat the Heat in the first year of their "Big Three" era. As they go for their second title, let TicketNetwork help connect you to the Dallas Mavericks tickets you want for a game this season.
