Golden State Warriors Tickets 2020 Season Outlook

The 2020 Golden State Warriors season will look a lot different than in past seasons. Change isn't always a bad thing, and the Warriors will be experiencing a lot of that in the coming season. First off, the brand new, state of the art, Chase Center will be where the Golden State Warriors play their home games. Located in San Fransisco, the Warriors new digs will hopefully provide them with the same home court advantage that Oracle Arena afforded them. Yes, the Warriors have been the best team in basketball over the past five seasons, but the raucous crowd at Oracle Arena had a lot to do with that.

The other glaring change will be that the Golden State Warriors no longer have Kevin Durant on their roster. One of the most dominant players in the NBA, Durant wanted a new challenge and chose to sign with the Brooklyn Nets. As for things that are staying the same, Steph Curry, the best shooter in NBA history will still be playing for the Warriors. Klay Thompson will spend most of the season recovering from a torn ACL but he will be back in action when the postseason rolls around. Draymond Green rounds out the nucleus and the initial "Big 3" that led the Warriors to an NBA title in 2015 against the Cleveland Cavaliers.

The supporting cast will look a lot different for Golden State this season. They acquired All-Star D'Angelo Russell in the offseason, a dynamic playmaker that can score in bunches when Thompson and Curry need a rest. Willie Cauley-Stein, Alec Burks and Kevon Looney are all NBA players who know their role, play it well and can be integral parts of a winning franchise in the NBA. On top of that, recent draft picks Jordan Poole and Jakob Evans bring a tenacity to the team when it comes to the defensive end. Secure your Golden State Warriors tickets today to see this talented team take the floor at the brand new Chase Center.

History of the Golden State Warriors

Before making their way to the west coast to become the Golden State Warriors, the franchise got their start on the east coast in the city of brotherly love, Philadelphia. The Warriors began play in 1946 as part of the Basketball Association of America and got off to a fast start. In the league's first season in existence, the Warriors won the BAA Championship by defeating the Chicago Stags. Just a couple of years later, the BAA and National Basketball League joined forces to create the National Basketball Association. It was as part of the NBA that the Warriors drafted perhaps the greatest center to ever play the game in 1959. Wilt Chamberlain joined the Warriors in that year, and his combination of size and unique skills made him an unstoppable force. As a member of the Warriors, Chamberlain scored an NBA record 100 points in a single game against the New York Knicks. The game now lives in basketball lore as an unbreakable record, one that perhaps will never be broken. Over his career, "Wilt the Stilt" would score nearly 18,000 points as a member of the Warriors, including a season averaging more than 50 points per game, before his trade to the Philadelphia 76ers in 1965.

The Warriors officially became known as the Golden State Warriors in 1971 after nine years as the San Francisco Warriors (they moved from Philadelphia in 1962). While their first NBA Championship came in 1956 on the East Coast, the Golden State Warriors were able to match that accomplishment in 1975 when they won the NBA title against the Washington Bullets in a four-game sweep that showed Warriors fans that they were the dominant team that season, led by players like Rick Barry and Jamaal Wilkes. In seasons that followed for the Golden State Warriors, many great players put on their uniform. Some of those players included Chris Mullen, Tim Hardaway and Chris Webber. The Warriors had a rough couple of years before striking gold in the NBA Draft. They selected Steph Curry, Klay Thompson, Draymond Green and Harrison Barnes in the draft, a nucleus that would later lead them to a championship in 2015. Curry and Thompson aim to go down as the best backcourt duo of all time as they keep draining threes and winning games.
