Nikki Glaser began her comedic gold by writing during her freshman year at the University of Kansas. Glaser looked up to comedians such as Sarah Silverman in order to create more jokes and improve Glaser’s own stand-up bits. Glaser’s comedy style is one that highlights the many challenges of being a woman in the modern world. With that, Glaser’s goal with comedy was to not only highlight these challenges but give voice to these issues – a voice that she had wished she had when she was younger.
Furthermore, Nikki Glaser is known for being an open book with her stand-up comedy. Glaser has opened up with her history of eating disorders and mental illnesses. Though poking fun of it during her stand-up or during interviews, the comedy scene has given Glaser a platform to express herself in a positive way.
Throughout the years, Nikki Glaser has taken on podcast projects that have only skyrocketed her successes. From 2011 to 2014, Glaser hosted You Had To Be There, a podcast where Glaser and co-host Sara Schaefer interviewed a guest comedian weekly. Glaser continued performing as a guest on several radio shows and other podcasts and eventually hosted another podcast show called We Know Nothing.
Nikki Glaser eventually made her way up in the world of Comedy Central. In 2016, Glaser hosted the television talk show called Not Safe With Nikki Glaser, which consisted of sex-themed comedy. In February of 2018, Glaser hosted Comedy Central’s first-ever daily morning show called “You Up? With Nikki Glaser” which aired live on the radio and soon turned into its own podcast. Glaser has also participated as a Roaster on a couple of the Comedy Central Roast.
In October of 2020, Nikki Glaser’s first stand-up special entitled Bangin’ premiered on Netflix. That same month, Glaser also made a guest appearance on The Joe Rogan Experience. Glaser is currently hosting the dating television show, Blind Date, and is also continuing to do stand-up by touring across the country.
